Dr. David Allen Lewis of Springfield, Missouri, well-known author and lecturer on eschatology and Israel, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2007 at the age of 74. Dr. Lewis was ordained with the Assemblies of God in 1956 and served in the ministry for over 50 years. He graduated from Central Bible College in 1954 and subsequently earned a master of arts in theological studies and a doctorate of theological studies.
As a clergyman, lecturer, researcher, and publisher, he had been active in national and international circles in promoting the welfare of the Church, of Israel, and of the Jewish people. He felt God called him to be a Christian ambassador to the nation of Israel. And in 1975 he founded Christians United for Israel (CUFI). He also was one of the founders of the National Christian Leadership Conference for Israel, and was the current chairman of the board.
He authored over 40 books, produced 39 television documentaries on location throughout Israel, and traveled to the Middle East 67 times, promoting the welfare of the Church, Israel and the Jewish people. He is remembered for his radio program, God’s Word For Today’s World, and his publications, Jerusalem Courier and Prophecy Digest, Prophecy Watch, Audio Prophecy Digest, and his Tape of the Month Service. He also operated the Prophecy Research Center and directed the Springfield Regional Eschatology Club.
Dr. Lewis is survived by Ramona, his wife of 52 years; daughters, Rev. Rebecca J. Brimmer and Rev. Cassandra Lewis Howell; two sons-in-laws, several grandchildren; and a multitude of family, friends and loved ones.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, June 8 in Cornerstone Church, Springfield, Missouri with Reverends Thomas Trask and Jess Gibson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to David Allen Lewis Ministries for the establishment of the David Lewis Memorial Research Library in Israel.

Our loss is heaven’s gain. Dr. Lewis was a great teacher, preacher and friend of the nation of Israel. I attend a church he pastored in the 60s and his influence is still felt in our congregation.
I am sad to hear of this news and my condolences go to Bekki Brimmer and family I live in Australia and in training for a Rep for brides for peace

As Israel’s Minister-Counselor for Relations with the Churches, in 1987-1990, at the Israel Embassy in Washington, I can attest that Dr. Lewis was a genuine friend to the people of Israel. Beyond that, he was an astute observer of the Middle East scene, with a remarkable ability to size up the situation at any given time by (1) marshaling the relevant facts and documents, and (2) bringing his vast Biblical knowledge and insight to bear on his analysis. The net result: a better exposure of the truth – and a wider understanding of the issues. David Lewis was a blessing to many; he will be sorely missed by many. But his blessed work goes on.

I’ve always been a big fan of Dr. Lewis. Over the years, any time I ran across him on tv, or appearing locally, I would check him out. I had a few sports “heroes” over the years, as kids do, but Dr. Dave was the one person who was my real hero. I wanted to be just like him “when I grew up”. I was already in my twenties in the early ’80’s when I first listened to him. I have always been totally fascinated by, and drawn to Israel and prophecy and here was a man who was a major figure in both areas. He was a wise man and a great teacher.
I first heard of Dr. David Lewis after he visited First Assembly of God in Kennewick, Washington. I check out one of his ministry tapes, and I have never forgotten it. He was a blessing to me.

we first heard of Dr.David Allen Lewis on a local program called It’s A New Day we went to see him at a church in town fifty miles away he helped us to understand some of the things that we had wondered ablut he also gave us some clues to some stuff that we later wittnessed in our lives a lot of what he said made a lot sense even many years later it is odd for many years i forgot about him not totally but then today i thought about hime and decided to do a google on him and found he had passed away we have been blessed to see some of what God is doing from time to time i believe Dr. Lewis will be rejoicing on the streets of gold and enjoy his eternal rewards
Dr. David Allen Lewis, throughout the 1970s and 1980s, had been my “Mentor.” So when I lectured with him at the various Assembly of God churches in Springfield in 1996 – and did six Prophecy Digest programs with him – it was a dream come true.
We had a very close chemistry and relationship through those years. Our friendship grew at the 1985 Christian Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland, where Theodor Herzl first proclaimed Israel a state within 50 years. Dr. Lewis was there courtesy of Jim Bakker. Two years later, in 1987, he appeared downtown Edmonton at Central Pentecostal (now defunct) but at the time the flagship of PAOC in Alberta. As usual, the crowds were packed in and I remember he discussed Constance Cumbey (how she was a closet Pentecostal) and her ten thousand volumes in her home.
Shortly thereafter, we went for dinner again when he spoke at Ray Rueb’s Southside Pentecostal Church. As usual, full house with at least three thousand in attendance. During the course of one of his lectures, I remember him surprising me when he looked up toward the balcony and said, “Isn’t that right, Steve?” He had a fun way of surprising people like that.
We later met up north at a Bible Camp near Cold Lake. While we were having a very enjoyable friendship and driving around camp in a go-cart, I could tell there were devotees there he had had for decades. The SPirngfield conferences we did were shortly after that; ending with his giving me the ties he wore when meeting with Prime Minister Menachem Begin, which, of course, I still have.
So, he will be dearly missed. Any minor disagreements we had, most trivial in retrospect, did not affect the overall impact Dr. Lewis had on my life. Under his influence, I became a prophecy researcher and lecturerer in 14 countries, now with 8 books to my credit.

It was with great sadiness that I recieved the news at the passing of Rev. David Lewis. He came to my church in Seattle and He And I traveled together on behalf of Israel with the National Christian Leadership Conference for Israel. I acted as his chauffer and have many pleasent memories of this great man. Israel has lost a great friend. Ramona if you need anything let me know.
David Lewis impacted my life as a young minister, during a youth camp at which he spoke in Western Pennsylvania in the early sixties.
God used Brother Lewis to touch many young people in that camp meeting.

It is with great sadness that I have learned of the passing, or should I say, graduation of Rev David Lewis. I will forever be indebted to him. For it was during one of his crusade (9-26-84) that I ran to the altar to surrender my life to the Lord Jesus! His message was one of power and conviction, proclaiming the word of God. When I reach the pearly gates, I will look for him there.

I never met Rev. Lewis but I know his daughter Becky. As I raise two daughters of my own I am impressed with the idea that I could only hope my children learn from me my own love for Israel the way Dr. Lewis impressed it upon his own children. What a godly and inspiring example. Keep up the good work Becky and may the Lord continue to give the increase.

“Dave Allen” (sic) Ministries was my first exposure to Jesus Christ in 1961-62.
I give testimony to the impact and power of a simple invitation to a young man to Vacation Bible School by “Christian” neighbors.
During a summer, somewhere within the early 1960’s I was invited to a one day event at a small church in Phoenix, Arizona. The details are all long since forgotten excepting watching a simple movie and being offered a conversation about this man Jesus. For some reason, I remember that the movie and conversation were presented by a young man named Dave with (in my memory) “Dave Allen Ministries” who was traveling through town at that time. Perhaps my perception is not accurate. Possibly, the materials or the “film” were associated with or produced by the ministry. Why a first or second grade child would remember the name of the ministry from a one-time event from 1961 or ’62 I have no idea.
At age 55, I have benefited from this initial seed that was planted in my youth. Not directing praise or attention to Mr. Allen or myself but to our Lord Jesus and the Father Yehweh, the approachable and intimate loving God.
Let us all be encouraged that the smallest event in our efforts to spread the good news of eternal salvation may impact someone’s life in ways that we, as individuals, may never be aware. Gods will, not ours. Gods timing not of our own.

It has been a long time, however, eternity has no time limits.
Listened to Dr Lewis at special meetings in Alberta, Canada.
Toured Israel with him and Avigdor(early 1991’s)several times. Now living in Las Vegas, Nv.
